VisionWorks' Breakthrough Solutions Program

Breakthrough Solutions is a premier Arkansas community development program for communities, organizations, and regions in search of a prosperous future. The program requires broad-based involvement, commitment, and the ability to cover half of the program’s delivery cost. The purpose of Breakthrough Solutions is to equip communities, organizations, businesses, and regions to prosper in the 21st century economy.

Breakthrough Solutions is offered in these three formats:

I. Community Blueprints – involves the community in developing a community blueprint and action plan for its future. Community Blueprints maximizes the ability of community leaders and citizens to create breakthroughs that will lead to their desired future, by building on ten principles for strategic leadership and innovation. Breakthrough Solutions includes a scenario-based visioning process, an in-depth community economic analysis, an up-to-date county profile, a resource guide and library, and technical assistance over a three year period. (For single or multiple communities or a single county)

II. Breakthrough Leadership Program – equips community and organizational leaders with the knowledge and skills to think and act strategically in the connected economy. The Breakthrough Leadership is designed for settings where a community may already have a strategic plan, or individuals from a larger geographic area seek advanced leadership training that equips them to be successful in the global, knowledge-based economy. The Breakthrough Leadership Program applies all ten of the Breakthrough Solutions modules in an experiential learning experience called River City. (For groups of leaders to learn to think and act strategically in their organizations, communities, or regions)

III. Regional Breakthrough Solutions – is designed to involve community leaders and citizens from throughout a region in developing a regional blueprint for its future. Regional Breakthrough Solutions maximizes the ability of regional and community leaders to create breakthroughs that will lead to their desired future, by building on ten principles for strategic leadership and innovation. Regional Breakthrough Solutions includes a scenario-based visioning process, an in-depth regional economic analysis, a resource guide and library, and technical assistance over a three year period. (For a multi-county, possibly multi-state region)

In addition:

A stand-alone workshop, Breakthrough Leadership Skills, is included in the Community Blueprints and Regional Breakthrough Solutions formats. This single day training is designed to develop essential leadership skills for this time of rapid change.

All program formats are designed with in-depth training for groups of people who will then involve greater numbers in the community or organization. The number of days of training varies with each format. Participants should anticipate experiential learning, with hands-on application of program principles to real life situations.

Anticipated outcomes:

  • New projects, resources, organizations and jobs created by local citizens.
  • Visionary strategic leadership with an understanding of mega-trends and their implications.
