"Extraordinary Results in Ordinary Communities" Conference Set For October 20-22,
2005 in Morrilton - September 2005
A conference featuring real-life case studies of "Extraordinary
Results in Ordinary Communities" is planned for October, 2005 in
Morrilton, AR, with assistance from Dr. Vaughn Grisham, Director of
the McLean Institute for Community Development at the University of
Mississippi.
Led by Dr. Grisham and supported by top educators and
consultants, the conference features community leaders who have
"been there, done that" in developing extraordinary communities out
of seemingly hopeless situations. Additional speakers include:
• Becky Anderson, Executive Director of "Handmade in America," one
of the top non-profit organizations in the country
• Karen Kimbrell, producer of the Swamp Gravy Institute in Colquitt,
GA
• Mattie Mabry, president of an award-winning neighborhood in
Tupelo, MS
• Marilyn Frauenkron Bayer, Director of Community Education Services
at Houston, MN school, who directed an extraordinary project that
turned around the school and community
• Barry McKuin and Ed Martsolf, Conway County leaders who were
instrumental in founding Conway County Vision 2020
• Mark Peterson, U of Arkansas Extension Community Development
Specialist, discussing Breakthrough Solutions, recipient of the 2004
Outstanding Program Award from the Community Development Society
These speakers will be sharing real-life stories about breakthrough
solutions for their community or region.
