Mena VISION 2010 Going for 501(c)(3) Status – September 2001
The Mena – Polk County VISION 2010 group is actively pursuing
classification as a 501(c)(3) organization with the IRS. According
to Regina Walker (menacity@cswnet.com),
this process is moving smoothly, and includes the election of
officers. Tammy Young has provided leadership in the development of
the by-laws. The Leadership Team will meet on September 12, with an
annual meeting set for October 10.
Two current key projects include 1) re-certification as an
Arkansas Community of Excellence (ACE) through the Arkansas
Department of Economic Development, and 2) plans for a recreation
center. The city purchased 75 acres for indoor and outdoor
recreational facilities, including soccer and walking trails. The
group reports that touring the Jacksonville Community Center during
the Little Rock VISION 2010 seminar provided inspiration and ideas
for their efforts.
