Thornton Attracts 100 Citizens to Town Meeting and Hears About Bears and Tigers
Partner Liaison Freeman McKindra and VISION 2010 Co-Coordinator
Maureen Rose were privileged to attend a recent community meeting in
Thornton, with over 100 people in attendance in this community of
502 people. The Steering Committee passed out fliers door to door to
stimulate attendance.
Mayor Sharon Scott welcomed everyone to the meeting. The one-hour
meeting was well organized, and included the "shapes" icebreaker;
singing by 3rd graders; the Conway County video; a short video of
3rd graders talking about what they would like to see in the
community (including a bear, a tiger, a park, and a grocery store);
and small groups identifying strengths and assets, weaknesses and
barriers, and their visions for Thornton in 10 years.
Mayor Scott closed by telling everyone that the results will be
tabulated and presented at an upcoming vision fair. Congratulations
Thornton!
